New Program coming to the ASCC starting in August 2022
Stay on the look out for more information regarding our new program: Friday Community Nights, starting on August 12th, 2022! Community Nights are meant for folks of all ages to come and enjoy free, fun events! Activities on Fridays are done in collaboration with local individuals and organizations that want to share their talents and passion. If you have any ideas for future nights or you are interested in hosting a Community Night, please email ascc@nashuanh.gov.
Here are some suggestions community members have given for possible themes and activities:
Science Experiments
Adults and kids will have fun doing science experiments together and learning about different areas of physics, biology, and animal sciences.
Craft Nights
Led by volunteers, specially requested craft nights include Friendship bracelets, paint night, and jewelry making.
Hunt Community Presents
Hunt Community Members are very active and talented at activities such as wood working, crafts, and more!
Movie Nights
Partnering with Smart Start, the library, or Hunt Community the dance studio can be used for stuffed animal movie nights for children and families.
Art & Music Night
Whether it’s a paint night, or an exhibition of local artists, music and art are always a hit and can minimize any cultural or language barriers.
Graphic Novel Night
Led by one volunteer, the community can get together and write a graphic novel together, somewhat Mad Libs style. Local artists can collaborate on the art work and community members can take turns sharing ideas that will be incorporated into the story.
Dance Night
Another specifically requested event, dance night can be held in the studio and have several different themes in and of itself. One specific theme of TikTok dances was requested.
Escape Room
Director Jess has experience turning ordinary rooms into escape rooms! This event can be done easily with a group of roughly 10 people.
Plants and Gardening
There’s nothing quite like getting your hands in the dirt and getting to bring home your own plants after learning how to care for them! Decorating pots can be part of this event as well!
Language Nights
American Sign Language (ASL) and Spanish classes have been specifically requested.
Tie Dye Night
People can bring their own clothes to tie dye, or use a provided white t-shirt of all sizes.
Free Classes (Photography, karate, etc)
Bingo
With an entry ticket of proposing something you’d like to see at the center or describing the most recent book you’ve read, Bingo will be open to all ages. Prizes will come from local organizations and individuals such as coupons for free haircuts, gift cards, Canobie Lake tickets, etc.
Trivia Night
Specifically requested, Trivia night can be hosted for the community and prizes can be donated. Teams can sign up beforehand or be placed together the night of the event.
Open Mic Night
Whether it’s comedy or karaoke, open mic nights are lots of fun and display the talents of the community.
Food Competitions
Foods from various cultures will be highlighted and a list of ingredients is mandatory for allergy and diet purposes. Local restaurants can have a battle for the community to decide which is their favorite!
Tea Party
A tea party, or an excuse to dress up, can be exciting for the community. Again, this could be held in collaboration with another ASCC event.
Cultural Celebrations
Diwali, different national Independence Days, and multiple religious and traditional holidays and customs can be highlighted throughout the Friday fun days.
Community Recipe Book
Community members can contribute to a community recipe book that can be made available in person at the center and online on our website.
